Chicago Cubs scored four runs and hit a single, double, triple and home run in the first, including two on Kris Bryant’s first home run of the season, but the bullpen couldn’t maintain the lead. Andrew McCutchen’s three-run home run highlighted a five-run seventh inning for the Pirates. Bryant hit his second homer run in the ninth inning, a solo shot that landed in the basket in left-center field. Cubs starter Jake Arrieta allowed three runs, three hits, including two home runs, a walk and struck out five in 5 2/3 innings. Brian Duensing and Pedro Strop combined to allow those five in the eighth. Pirates Josh Harrison also hit a solo home run in the inning. Addison Russell had a double and a triple for the Cubs. Cubs left 17 men on base. Tough loss for the Cubbies.
