Joe Maddon earns 1,000th win as the Chicago Cubs beat the Reds 9-5

Cubs win Cubs win! The Chicago Cubs beat the Reds 9-5. It was a home run derby at Wrigley Field as the Cubs had 4 home runs. Schwarber, Rizzo, Russell, and the rookie Ian Happ all went deep. The four home runs by the Cubs were a season high. Rookie Ian Happ homered again and walked twice, once with the bases loaded. He looks like a guy that belongs in the MLB. John Lackey gave up home runs in the first two innings, but had a decent game. Willson Contreras had two hits and two RBIs, and John Lackey pitched into the sixth inning in the opener of a 10-game homestand. It was Chicago’s third win in its last 10 games. Joe Maddon won his 1000th game tonight as a manager. Maddon is the 63rd manager to reach 1,000 wins, and the eighth active skipper to do so.
