The Chicago Cubs window is now. They have officially acquired left-handed starting pitcher Jose Quintana from the crosstown rival Chicago White Sox. The whole trade is Cubs acquiring pitcher Jose Quintana in exchange for Cubs minor league outfielder Eloy Jimenez, pitcher Dylan Cease, and infielders Matt Rose along with Bryant Flete. Jose Quintana is under Cubs control through 2020. Quintana is 28 years old and was a 2016 All-Star and is 50-54 with a 3.51 ERA (412 ER/1,055.1 IP) in 172 major league appearances. Cubs take over the remaining $3.2. million of Quintana’s salary this year, and he’s owed $8.95 million next year before a pair of $10.5 million club options come into play. This season, Quintana is 4-8 with a 4.49 ERA in 18 starts for the White Sox. I am completely shocked by this trade.
