Cubs were hoping for another repeat of last night, instead they got shut out 3-0.

Fresh off a 16-4 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Chicago Cubs were hoping for another repeat of last night, with the RBI’s coming fast and furious. Instead, they got shut out 3-0.

With Jake Arrieta pitching, and catcher Alex Avila making his Cubs debut, the duo got off to a solid start, allowing only two hits before two runs scored off a Jake Lamb double in the 6th inning.

Pitcher Justin Wilson made his Cubs debut, relieving Arrieta in the 8th, but gave up a run making it a 3-0 game.

The Cubs had a couple chances at scoring thanks to a couple singles, but the wind just wasn’t going to allow it. They didn’t have any base runners after the 3rd.

Cubs are 14-4 since the All Star break, and still first in the NL Central. Tomorrow is the rubber game as Jose Quintana will be pitching for the Cubs.
