The Chicago Cubs came into game three of their set against the Pittsburgh Pirates hoping to snap their losing streak.
Starting pitcher Jose Quintana did a very nice job on the mound tonight, going 6 innings, giving up 6 hits and allowing no runs. This was his second quality start in a row, so things are looking up for the Cubbies and Q. He was replaced by Hector Rondon in the 7th.
It was a pretty quiet game, with no runs scoring for either team until the 9th, with the Cubbies striking first, thanks to an Alex Avila RBI triple. Cubs lead 1-0 going to the bottom of the 9th.
The Cubs remain in first place in the NL Central, and will play the Pirates again Thursday, before heading back to Chicago for a home stand against the Brewers for the weekend.
